Cape Town blew me away. The friendliest people, unbelievable food (and of course wine) at even more unbelievable prices, and man oh man, the trails! These are some of the most spectacular mountains I’ve ever seen; and I live near the Rockies! Warren was a fantastic guide who knows his stuff and who definitely knows his way around the mountains and the city. He was brilliant both on and off the beaten track. I will definitely be coming back to Cape Town, and will definitely be using Cape Trail Tours. PS My favourite trails were Mont Rochelle in Franschoek – awesome trails, awesome mountains, but the “fynbos” environment when I was there was just next level beautiful. And of course Table Mountain. In the middle of the city surrounded by the sea you could spend two weeks up there and never run the same trail twice. We ascended to the top using Platteklip Gorge, and I LOVED it! Apparently it’s busier than other routes but I chose it based on the opportunity to interact with local hikers and runners, and man I’m glad I did! By the time we were at the top not only was I feeling good about myself but I was feeling better about humanity! It’s incredible. I’ll be back!

This was my first trip to South Africa and wasn’t sure what to expect, but I had the experience of a lifetime! I was lucky enough to experience quite a lot of the Western Cape, from the exquisite Garden Route all the way to Cape Town. I come from Vancouver, often rated as one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Well I’m not prepared to surrender the title just yet, but Cape Town is most definitely a contender. It was invaluable having guides Warren and Angela to show me the ins and outs of the infinite trail options. Their great advice and tailor-made packages ensured I got exactly what I wanted and more. There are literally trails, sights and attractions for every occasion in Cape Town. Plus fantastic accommodation and world class eating at a fraction of what I’d be paying at home. An absolutely unforgettable travel and trail experience.

Good advice, well-structured itineraries and professional support meant that we could focus on the trails (and the food and wine)! Table Mountain truly is a Wonder of the World and the trailrunning is just sublime. Tough, but sublime. Another of my favourites to run was Jonkershoek in Stellenbosch (and not only because Stellenbosch is also home to the most beautiful wine estates in the world), and of course sunset from Lion’s Head was Instagram heaven. What we loved was the bespoke touch that catered for all of our different running capabilities (and moods) as well as any other particular interests anybody had. Looking forward to hitting those Cape Trails again one day soon.
