“I dream of our vast deserts, of our forests, of all our great wildernesses. We must never forget that it is our duty to protect this environment.”
– Nelson Rolihlala Mandela
Cape Trail Tours has signed the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge. This Pledge serves to demonstrate our commitment to improving the sustainability performance of our business between now and 2030, as well as to set the standards by which we hold ourselves accountable. The UN World Tourism Organization defines sustainable tourism as “tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities.”
Each year, we commit to measuring and improving our sustainability performance in the following ways:
- Active support for South African National Parks and Cape Nature.
- Dedicated Environmental Conservation Education Initiatives aimed at our staff, the local communities within which we live and work, and our guests.
- Dedicated Cultural Conservation Education Initiatives aimed at our staff and our guests.
- Continued minimisation of our Carbon and Environmental footprint as a business.
- Support for local entrepreneurs, service providers and communities through targeted Sustainable Purchasing Policies.
